Growing with nature

Nature is woven into everyday life in our centre, nurturing curiosity, wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging. Through gardening, our tamariki learn to care for the environment, growing and sharing produce as a way of giving back to our community. It offers a rich, hands-on learning experience that supports the whole child.

Gardening empowers children to become kaitiaki of their environment. They learn that their actions matter. By caring for the earth, they are contributing to something bigger than themselves. These early experiences lay the foundation for lifelong values of sustainability, respect and responsibility.

Guided by Te Whāriki and Te Whare Tapa Whā, our approach embraces holistic learning, supporting physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing through meaningful connection with nature, people and place.

In our ECE setting, a garden is never just a garden. It is a place of learning, connection, wellbeing and joy. As tamariki plant, nurture and harvest, they are also growing confidence, curiosity and a deep love for the world around them.

Our garden is more than a space – it is a place where tamariki grow as confident learners and develop a love for nature and the world around them.
