Here at BestStart Papamoa Plaza, our vision is  “Growing young Kaitiaki”, we envision a community of learning were children learn to be respectful for our environment ensuring our foot print is as small as possible.

Through learning about how to be respectful with Papatūānuku -  Papatūānuku is the land - the Earth Mother. She is seen as the birthplace of all things. Ensuring we value Ranginui in the heavens - the Sky Father in all we do.

Each Matariki we celebrate new life so ensuring tamariki respect nature and the growth throughout the year we plan to annually place a tree to our garden, to give back as a sustainable aspect of our curriculum. Twinkling in the winter sky just before dawn, Matariki (the Pleiades) signals the Māori New Year. For Māori, the appearance of Matariki heralds a time of remembrance, joy and peace. It is a time for communities to come together and celebrate new life and harvests.

Our foot print within the world is large and teaching tamariki how best we can be sustainable will ensure there will be enough for all for longer.

Our Part: We have wet bags, we have minimal lamination, lots of loose parts, a vegetable garden, a worm farm, we support paper 4 trees and recycle what we can!! This list will grow each year as we research and find out how we can enhance our sustainable foot print.
