We celebrated India's most popular festival "Diwali". It is the most well-known Hindu festival celebrated in India and around the world. This Festival celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It is known as the 'festival of lights because houses, shops, and public places are decorated with oil lamps and fireworks displays are held.

Therefore, our kaiako and tamariki have started the Diwali preparations early this month. We have conducted so many art and craft activities related to Diwali in our centre. Our toddlers have made 'clay Diya's and painted and decorated these Diya's with the help of Kaiako Harjit. They have also made 'Rangoli' and done firework painting and prepared paper Diya's.

On Thursday 27th of October, we celebrated Diwali as a whole centre event, where kaiako Harjit had a mat-time with the whole centre. Nursery, Toddlers, and preschool tamariki and kaiako also joined this mat time. Kaiako Harjit shared Diwali stories with everyone and explained the importance of this festival. We sang Diwali songs, lit up the candles, performed a dance to Diwali songs, and enjoyed Indian food.

Happy Diwali!!!

On this auspicious and sparkling festival of lights, may the glow of a lamp illuminate your life and brings you joy, prosperity, and happiness.
