Herewini was full of colour, laughter, and excitement as we recently celebrated the vibrant festival of Holi together.
It was a special day where many of our whānau joined us, creating a real sense of whanaungatanga as we connected through shared experiences, stories, and lots of fun.
Throughout the day, tamariki explored the meaning of Holi through stories and conversations. We talked about how Holi celebrates new beginnings and the joy of coming together. Tamariki expressed their ideas and creativity through traditional arts and craft activities, experimenting with bright colours and materials.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the traditional throwing of coloured powder. Tamariki and whānau loved taking part in this joyful tradition, filling the air with bright colours, laughter, and smiles. It was such a fun way to experience the spirit of Holi together.
We were also very lucky to have Raman spend time cooking with the tamariki. Together they made delicious roti and refreshing mango lassi. The children enjoyed being involved in the process, exploring new smells, textures, and tastes while showing curiosity and willingness to try something new.
Days like this are so special for our centre community. They support tamariki to build a sense of belonging and confidence while strengthening whanaungatanga with their peers, teachers, and whānau.
It was a joyful day filled with colour, connection, and celebration that we were grateful to share together.
