BestStart Dixon Heights would like to wish everyone a happy Maori new year.  It has been a very eventful time for us over the past month as we have been learning how Matariki affects us in our daily lives.  Many activities were undertaken during this time to support tamariki learning in a hands-on way.  We were able to connect our learning around matariki to our centre vision “nurture through nature” through plantings, use of natural resources, the preparation, and laying of a traditional in ground Hangi, bringing people together to strengthen whanaungatanga, and our Matariki production which nurtured tuakana-teina relationships as tuakana tamariki were paired with teina tamariki.
