Best Start Motutaiko love getting out into the community. We took the opportunity to take a small group of our younger children to the gymnastics club who run playgroups. The children had a blast!

On the way to the gymnastics club there was so much to see. The children were so excited to see the “Diggers and Trucks” as the words echoed throughout the van.

Once they got there they had to take off their shoes and they were away to explore all of the different equipment and new challenges they had. There was a lot of different areas to explore such as the foam pit, the balance beam, tunnels, tramps, hula hoops, balls and so much more.

These are all great learning opportunities for our tamariki. First they get to go out into the community and explore an area where they may not have been before or create new links. Its also an opportunity for children to build their confidence in themselves as well as in their Kaiako as they are in a new place/ environment. In being in this environment children are exposed to different resources where they can develop and extend their gross motor skills. We are aiming to have this excursion as a regular occurrence as everyone had so much fun.
