He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata. It is the people, it is the people, it is the people.
We were delighted to welcome our friends from the local retirement village for a special morning of whanaungatanga and shared learning.
Our tamariki proudly shared some of their favourite songs with our visitors, and we loved seeing their confidence grow as some chose to stand up and perform a song independently.
Their willingness to share their voice and talents was a beautiful example of Mana Atua – Wellbeing and Mana Reo – Communication. We then enjoyed a shared story, followed by the special experience of having one of our visitors read a story to us. Tamariki and our visitors spent time chatting, listening and sharing stories together before it was time for our guests to head home. These moments provide rich opportunities for tamariki to develop whanaungatanga, empathy and a sense of belonging, while strengthening their connections with our wider community.
This reflects Te Whāriki – Belonging | Mana Whenua, where children know they have a place and are connected to the people and places around them.
We are excited to welcome our friends back again soon, when we will work together to create a special mural. This will be a wonderful opportunity for tamariki and our kaumātua to share ideas, creativity and stories, creating something together that celebrates the special connection we are building.
He waka eke noa – We are all in this together.
