BestStart Wainoni Road
BestStart Wainoni Road sits in the heart of the Wainoni community and caters for children aged 3 months to 6 years old. We have a reputation and are well connected to external community agencies. We are the centre of choice and provide a safe, secure, loving environment for each and every child and their families.
Aroha is the Heart of Wainoni
We are a stable, loving, safe haven in the community where all children, families and cultures are accepted by our qualified, long-standing teaching team.
Nursery
Our Nursery provides a safe, gentle and nurturing environment. Our team aims to provide respectful care that is individualised to each child’s needs. We believe each pēpi is special and unique and we look after them as you would. We encourage tamariki to participate in age appropriate activities reflecting their individual interests.
Whanaungatanga is an important Kaupapa value for our Nursery. We use effective communication and believe in forming genuine relationships with our whanau. We provide ma times, music times, art activities, and sensory play and follow the early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki.
Toddlers
We value:
- Independence
- Communication with all whanau
- Challenges
- Fun
- An energetic environment
In the Toddler Room we provide an environment that fosters children’s growing independence. We enjoy supporting children as they take in new challenges and have fun learning. Working with whanau towards their goals is important to us. We value the relationships we build and have a strong focus on communication.
Preschool
In the preschool we cater for 3-4 year olds. Through supporting tamariki we encourage independence and self-help skills. We offer many activities and experiences with a range of resources for the abilities and skills of our tamariki, ensuring their needs and interest are met.
We have open communication with whanau through discussions in the preschool room and StoryPark. Our preschoolers begin to build tuakana teina relationships with our older tamariki and prep room kaiako as they explore and share an outdoor play area.
Prep School
In the prep room we are all about ako- learning. Our prep room tamariki take pride in their role as rangatira (leaders) of the centre and we nourish their confidence in their identity by encouraging a child led programme and following the aspirations and interests of tamariki. The prep room values partnership with our tamariki, whanau, and the wider community to create a holistic programme. We are committed to preparing our tamariki for their transition to school by interweaving ‘be school ready’ values and skills into our daily learning and linking learning to the key competencies as well as the early childhood curriculum. When tamariki leave the prep room and venture off to school, they do so as confident, competent, lifelong learners. Above all, we provide a stimulating, vibrant, and fun environment where tamariki can be themselves while exploring the various areas of play and creating experiences of their own.
