Health and wellbeing at BestStart Mahora

This month, we greatly focused on health and wellbeing at BestStart Mahora.

Our tamariki have loved having yoga rituals done with them. So much so our tamariki have started to initiate this in their own time. They love the yoga books our Kaiako talk through with them and using the te reo maori within them.

Teachers support the development of children’s oral language by combining language and a variety of experiences that link to ideas about the world they live in. This helps to build a sense of belonging and confidence about who they are in the world.

Physical active play increases the heart rate, which pumps more oxygen to the brain, providing an excellent environment for the growth of brain cells.

In addition to helping maintain a healthy body, physical play helps to build healthy bones, muscles, heart and lungs. Physical play helps children develop their motor skills and strengthens their concentration and thinking skills. Young children who regularly engage in physical activities improve their attention, problem-solving and persistence skills.
