This month in the Koru Room, we have been exploring and enjoying a variety of new kai experiences together. Mealtimes provide valuable opportunities for tamariki to develop healthy eating habits, try different foods, and build confidence as they explore new tastes, textures, and flavours.

We follow the Heart Foundation Healthy Heart Award guidelines, ensuring that the foods and drinks we provide support children's health, wellbeing, and growing bodies.

Alongside healthy eating, physical movement remains an important part of our daily programme. Tamariki participate in a wide range of active experiences throughout the day, including outdoor play, running, climbing, dancing, music and movement activities, ball games, and obstacle courses. These opportunities help to strengthen gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and confidence while encouraging a love of being active.

Through both healthy kai and regular physical activity, tamariki are learning how to care for their bodies and make positive choices that support their wellbeing. These experiences also foster social connections as children share meals, participate in group games, and encourage one another.

It has been wonderful to see tamariki embracing new foods, developing healthy habits, and enthusiastically engaging in movement experiences that promote lifelong health and wellbeing.
