At BestStart Kawaha Point, we are proud to hold a Healthy Heart Award, a recognition of our commitment to promoting nutrition and wellbeing in our centre.
As a lunchbox centre, we place a strong emphasis on the importance of healthy eating, understanding that good nutrition fuels our tamariki’s growth, learning, and overall development.
Nutrition is a shared priority for our team and whānau, and we’re always looking for ways to support our community in making informed choices. Recently, several whānau approached us seeking fresh ideas for nutritious lunchbox options.
This opened up a wonderful opportunity to connect with Jayne from the Healthy Heart team, who generously offered her time and expertise. Jayne led an engaging and insightful session where she shared practical tips and healthy alternatives for both children’s and adults’ lunchboxes.
The kōrero sparked eye-opening discussions around sugar, salt, and fibre intake, and helped us better understand what’s really in the kai we prepare and share. It was a valuable learning experience for our entire centre—staff and whānau alike—and reinforced our commitment to creating a healthy, supportive environment for our tamariki.
We’re grateful to Jayne and the Healthy Heart team for their guidance and look forward to continuing our journey toward better health together.
