At BestStart Pinnacles, we believe that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door – it extends into the world around us.
That’s why we offer free daily excursions for our tamariki, giving them opportunities to explore, play, and grow in our beautiful Wānaka community at no extra cost to families.
- Mondays – Playground with a Fluffy We start the week with joy and connection at the playground, building gross motor skills while enjoying a fluffy together. This fosters both physical confidence and social bonds.
- Tuesdays – Active Movement at the Tennis Court In a safe, closed space, tamariki develop balance, coordination, and teamwork through movement games, supporting healthy bodies and confident risk-taking.
- Wednesdays – Bike Rides Our weekly rides encourage perseverance, resilience, and road safety awareness. Biking also strengthens muscles and gives children a sense of independence and achievement.
- Thursdays – Open Space Games Whether it’s running races, parachute games, or imaginative play, open spaces offer freedom to move, collaborate, and practice problem-solving in a natural setting.
- Fridays – Forest Explorations The week ends with discovery in the forest – climbing logs, hunting for bugs, exploring textures, and learning kaitiakitanga (guardianship) for the environment.
These excursions are more than just outings – they are intentional learning experiences that align with our vision of fostering curiosity, resilience, and a love for nature. They promote physical well-being, social skills, and confidence, while helping tamariki feel connected to their community. By stepping out into the world together, we empower children to explore their passions, embrace challenges, and see learning as an adventure – every single day.
