Holi at BestStart Wolverton Street

Here at BestStart Wolverton Street we embrace what makes each whānau and child unique; we cherish and celebrate our different cultural identities and provide opportunities for all to be immersed in new experiences.

Holi is the joyful Hindu Festival of Colours. It is a wonderful opportunity for our tamariki to embrace diversity, and for them to embody our values of belonging, friendship, love and laughter.

Natural opportunities arose for Kaiako to share traditional oral stories around welcoming good and the light of spring into our lives. Our tamariki were provided with enriching artistic experiences where they looked at shapes and traditional patterns from India through their exploration of Rangoli made with sand and dye.

During Rangwali Holi (the second day of the festival) our Kaiako and tamariki had an amazing time participating in our Festival of Colours where coloured powder was thrown in celebration and fun was had by all.
