The morning of the Holi celebration on the 22nd of March 2024 created so much excitement for our kea tamariki.

They were so excited to gather up with their peers and teachers and explore all the beautiful bright colours. There was so much joy, laughter and happiness, as they got to apply colours on each other, as well as on their teachers too!

This was also a time where our toddler friends got to explore the meaning of Holi which symbolises enjoyment, positivity and friendships. It is a great opportunity for toddlers to engage in sensory play, explore different colours, and develop social skills by interacting with others. Additionally, the act of smearing colours can be a form of tactile stimulation, aiding in sensory development. Likewise, this also created the opportunity for them to understand the diversity of different cultures.

The festival fosters a sense of unity and joy as people of all ages come together to celebrate. The festival encourages creativity as young children explore different ways of playing with colours and interact with others in a festive atmosphere.

Holi celebrations can offer a rich and stimulating experience for toddlers and preschool children, encompassing physical, emotional and cultural benefits.
