Our little Kawaha Point daycare burst into a riot of colours today as we celebrated Holi, the vibrant festival of colours!
Our tamariki were beyond excited to dive into fun and festivities.
We kicked off the day by sharing the story behind Holi- the triumph of good over evil, and the arrival of spring. It's a time to spread joy, hope, and happiness, and symbolises new beginnings. Our little ones beamed with excitement as they heard about the legendary bonfires and colourful powders.
But the real fun began when we got our hands on those bright colours! Children as well as teachers ran, danced, and smeared colours on each other, laughing and giggling nonstop. It was a sight to behold- tiny tots covered in pink, yellow, green, red and pink grinning from ear to ear.
To fuel the fun, we had a delicious feast fit for a celebration! Our kai was a hit- chickpea curry, puri, and rice, followed by sweet gulguka (fiji indian doughnuts) that disappeared in seconds. Our tamariki loved every bite. The day was a perfect blend of culture, fun and learning.
We can't wait to see what other festivities awaits us! Holi may be over for now, but the colours and joy will stay with us for a long time.
