During the school holidays at Best Start Pipiwai Road, we planned a range of exciting activities for our tamariki to enjoy. Throughout the Term One holidays, tamariki were given opportunities to participate in engaging and meaningful experiences.

The activities they particularly enjoyed included arts and crafts, bike day and a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. For arts and crafts day, tamariki created poppies in honour of ANZAC Day. This provided a meaningful opportunity for us to kōrero about the importance of ANZAC Day, fostering positive engagement and conversations between tamariki and kaiako.

Bike Day was, as always, a great success. Tamariki loved bringing in their bikes and scooters to share with their friends. As they rode around the turf, the space was filled with laughter and excitement. It was wonderful to observe tamariki demonstrating sharing, turn-taking and social connection, with a fantastic turnout.

Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic was also a highlight. Tamariki brought along their favourite bears to share and show their friends. The day was filled with calm, joyful moments as tamariki spent time engaging with their treasured companions, creating a warm and nurturing atmosphere.

Through fun activities, tamariki learn with and alongside their friends and kaiako.
