Holiday Program FUN!
Our two-week holiday program was packed with creativity, exploration, and skill-building! The tamariki had an absolute blast, with each day offering new and exciting experiences. Here's a snapshot of some of what we got up to:
Clay Art Day (Tuesday): Our tamariki dove into sensory fun with clay, shaping and sculpting their imaginations into spiders, turtles, pasta, spaghetti, pools, and gardens. This hands-on activity sparked collaboration, independence, laughter, and rich conversations, nurturing their creativity and storytelling.
Water Play: Colored water and ice provided endless opportunities for exploration and skill development. From pouring and squirting to scrubbing and stirring, tamariki engaged in fine and gross motor challenges, building hand-eye coordination in a fun and playful way.
Baking Day: Helen led an exciting baking experience where tamariki mixed ingredients and made delicious chocolate cupcakes for afternoon tea. They learned through doing, feeling a sense of achievement with each stir and pour. Ka pai tamariki!
Art Explosion Day: Led by Mona, this day was all about large-scale collaborative painting. Awhero and Putohe came together to create a stunning group art piece. The tamariki thrived in the large art space, enjoying sensory play, building fine motor skills, and engaging in meaningful conversations with their peers.
Our program beautifully aligned with the principles of the Curiosity Approach, Te Whāriki, He Mapuna te Tamaiti, and Reggio philosophy, fostering holistic development through play, creativity, and meaningful experiences. Ngā mihi nui to all who made it so special!
