When the weather is sunny, we enjoy a treat from our playground garden. The tangelo tree has provided lots of fruit and most mornings the children gather the fallen ones to take to the kitchen. They are enjoyed as cut fruit or lately as a drink or ice blocks.

The process of juicing the oranges has been a group effort using the squeezer and learning to follow instructions. Everyone has had to learn to be patient when the juice was made into ice blocks and knowing we had to wait for them to harden in the freezer. The knowledge we have about produce from our garden being able to be turned into something to eat was a great learning experience.

What an enjoyable day it was to sit together outside and enjoy our delicious healthy treats. Thank you everyone for helping with the work.

Montessori Philosophy

Montessori believed that learning occurs in an inquiring, co-operative, nurturing atmosphere and both inside and outside the classroom. Children increase their own knowledge through self and teacher-initiated experiences. Learning takes place through the senses by interacting with the environment both indoors and outdoors.
