As the weather has been so lovely and hot our tamariki have been exploring ice.

We've created ice gardens using leaves and flowers and have experimented with different shapes and sizes.

The children have enjoyed feeling the different texture of the ice with their senses and also have enjoyed watching the ice melt and splashing in the puddles.

Through ice play children are exploring and learning through their senses, sensory play enables children to learn concepts such as volume, capacity, heavy, light, wet, dry.

Ice play is also a fun way to cool off when the weather is hot.
