In the sand pit our tamariki worked tirelessly on the cake creations using bright colours of matchsticks and glitter to decorate them.

Their play led to discussions and research on Rainbow Cakes.  After they spent time studying up on the different types of rainbow cakes, they finally chose a recipe and design.

With excitement in the air and discussions at home our tamariki could not wait to bake their cake the following day.

The day had come….

“We are making our rainbow cake today,” they all said.  But first they all drew what they thought the cake would look like.  Once they had done this and our tamariki had had morning tea the cake preparation began.  So many tamariki participated in these activities and they all took part in preparing, mixing and decorating Ngatai Rd’s Rainbow Cake.

So Delicious and a job well done by all.
