BestStart Delta Avenue proudly celebrated Samoan Language Week, Philippine Independence Day, and Matariki, embracing and celebrating the diverse cultures represented within our centre and whānau.
These celebrations highlighted our commitment to inclusiveness, belonging, and cultural connection. A key highlight was the active participation of our whānau. During Samoan Language Week and Philippine Independence Day, our whānau joined us in celebrating and honouring these important cultures. During Matariki, families generously contributed vegetables towards our shared Matariki soup, reflecting the spirit of community, connection, and togetherness.
Our tamariki enjoyed delicious Samoan sweet treats during Samoan Language Week and a traditional Chicken Afritada meal to celebrate Philippine Independence Day. The hearty Matariki vegetable soup, served with fresh bread, was another favourite that brought everyone together.
Throughout these celebrations, tamariki participated in a range of meaningful learning experiences, including arts and crafts, singing waiata, listening to stories, and exploring the significance of each cultural event. These experiences fostered a deeper appreciation of different cultures while strengthening our values of unity, kindness, and aroha, as reflected in our centre vision.
By celebrating these important cultural occasions together, we continue to create an inclusive environment where every child, family, and culture is valued, respected, and celebrated.
