Inter Hub Athletics Day
We had an amazing time at the BestStart Inter Hub Athletics Day! It started with an exciting bus trip to meet the other BestStart centres on the field. The children were keen to give all of the acitivities a go; egg and spoon race, sack race, long jump, obstacle course, sprints, hurdles, gumboot throwing, and shot put.
Our tamariki made us so proud. Everyone gave it a go and gave it their all. The children showed great sportsmanship, the ability to follow instructions, and take turns. They cheered each other on and celebrated each other's success. We demonstrated our values of Respect-Manaakitanga, Individuality-Mana, Teamwork-Kotahitanga, and Empathy-Atawhai while living our vision,
'At one with child, whānau, and community'. We were thrilled to be placed first equal, along with BestStart Marne Street. Well done to our Kelvin Grove Grizzly Bears! We had a huge turn out of whānau who came along and supported us. They were a great help with photo taking, measuring, timing, raking, and even participating in a parent's race.
We are grateful to be part of the wider Manawatū-Whanganui BestStart Hub. Athletics day is something we all look forward to each January before our eldest tamariki head off for school.
