Introducing our new prep school room
After listening to our parent's voices in wanting for their children to have an opportunity to not only be ready for school but also have a learning environment that focuses on offering a more structured pre-school learning environment, we have established a separate room for our children who are about to go to school.
Our aim for our prep school / Harakeke room children is for them to develop confidence to effectively communicate their wants and needs, to have strategies to seek help; to be able to self-manage for example their lunch boxes and their belongings; to be confident in early numeracy and literacy and imaginative play. The Kaiako provide this through intentional teaching via a project approach curriculum. Our prep school environment provides a strong foundation for their next steps to primary education.
