One of the exciting activities we had during our holiday programme at BestStart Manuroa Road was 'Junior Masterchef'. The children have grown a great crop of vegetables in their garden so were able to harvest plenty of lettuce and cucumber to use as ingredients. They also made their own unique chefs hats to wear while preparing the food ready for lunch.

So many different choices and decisions for the children to make as  they explored the different ingredients available to fill their wraps. There was a lot of creativity with all kinds of filling combinations. Some of the boys summed it up, "That was a very yummy lunch" they said.

The children have been very involved in natural science, growing herbs, fruit and vegetables and learning how to take care of the living world. They understand that we can grow our own food and eat it and how these kinds of food are essential to keep their bodies healthy.
