Being part of our local community is an important part of our programming and we endeavour to take part in events as they happen in our community. As well as being actively involved in the community, we encourage community and whanau involvement in all our Centre happenings! It was so awesome to have one of our grandfathers volunteer his time to drive our float, while one of our amazing mums came in to paint the childrens' faces!

Leading up to the parade, nga tamariki were involved in lots of discussion around safety and responsibility before riding on the back of the float.

Taking part in the Kaikohe Christmas in the Village Christmas Parade last week was enjoyed by all our kaiako, tamariki and whanau.  So many of our Centre whanau turned up to support the event and cheer on our incredible dalmatians! Everyone on our float were stunning dressed to our "101 Dalmatians" theme.  The judges also thought we were stunning as we came away with first place in the Business Float Section and overall Supreme Winner for 2020.

As we at BestStart Kaikohe endeavour to foster Kaikohe's future leaders, these experiences are incredibly valuable for enhancing their sense of belonging within our community, and pride for where they come from!
