As part of our “Kids in Nature” programme, our tamariki and whānau of Beststart Bader Street enjoyed a truly special experience as we ventured on our excursion this year and fourth activity under our ongoing Kids in Nature programme!
We spent the entire morning at Sandford Park, where our tamariki had the opportunity to plant trees, explore nature, and connect with the land.
We were honoured to be joined by Shelly from Hamilton City Council, who supported our kaupapa and guided the tree planting with aroha and expertise. This special day came with beautiful weather.
We were thrilled to see how much our tamariki and whānau appreciated the day. This experience connects deeply to our centre priorities of promoting wellbeing, building strong connections to the environment, and nurturing children to be confident, curious, and capable learners.
Through our Kids in Nature programme, tamariki learn the values of kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and kaupapa-driven learning by caring for Papatūānuku in real and meaningful ways. Planting trees was not just about the physical act — it was about planting values: care, aroha, responsibility, and sustainability.
We are so proud of our tamariki for their engagement and grateful to our whānau who came along and supported this special kaupapa.
