Kiwi Environment

1

Rūma Kiwi has had a change in what our environment looks like. Kaiako wanted to create a more interesting and engaging environment for all our Kiwi tamariki to enjoy. The change has been a positive one with children being able to have more eye catching and calming things to look at. It has allowed them to find a space they like to relax and take in all there is to see. It has provided great connections to our philosophy as our kaiako have been noticing and responding to individual needs and interests through a responsive environment along with intentional teaching moments. Alongside creating a calm and inviting space, we wanted to encourgage more Whānau involvement in our tamariki learning and environment. We started with our whānau tree, which our tamariki adore and often request to have their family photo to sit with or show their peers. Our whānau involvement is growing increasing well through our new planning templates and storypark use. Learning outcomes our tamariki have achieved during this process are making connections between people, places and things in their world as well as managing themselves and expressing their feelings and needs. Pop into BestStart Springlands to take a look at our wonderful space and enjoy it as much as we do.
