Kori the Little Blue Penguin, along with his friends from SwimMagic!
Their visit was full of fun, learning, and important messages about staying safe around water.
Kori shared five key water safety rules with our tamariki, including always swimming with an adult nearby, learning how to float on their backs, wearing a life jacket on a boat, and swimming between the flags at the beach.
Through storytelling, songs, and interactive demonstrations, the children were engaged from beginning to end. One of the highlights of the visit was watching our own tamariki confidently model how to wear a life jacket correctly.
Jed and Jasmine proudly stepped up to help demonstrate this important safety skill, showing their friends how life jackets help keep us safe when out on the water. It was wonderful to hear the children sharing their own experiences of swimming at the beach, visiting pools, and enjoying water adventures with their whānau.
These conversations helped reinforce the important messages Kori was teaching. A huge thank you to Kori and the SwimMagic team for visiting our centre and helping our tamariki learn valuable water safety skills that will support them to stay safe and confident around water.
