In the Kowhai Room, we acknowledged ANZAC Day through art and play-based experiences that helped tamariki begin to understand remembrance and respect.
Children painted poppies using cardboard, which were displayed along our outdoor fence for others to see, creating a sense of pride and contribution.
We also made poppy art using egg cartons, where tamariki explored colour, texture, and creativity. Alongside our art, we played ANZAC matching games to support memory, concentration, and turn-taking with peers.
These experiences supported children’s sense of belonging, creativity, and early understanding of ANZAC Day through meaningful, hands-on learning.
