Learning about empathy

Over the last few weeks the children at BestStart Railway Rd have been learning about empathy, caring and giving to others. This has led to whānau and teaching staff bringing in food items and gifts for the children to wrap up and place in our box in the foyer, that would lead into an excursion in our centre van to take these gifts to the Salvation Army. The staff at the Salvation Army were SO grateful for all the caring that the children expressed to help those who didn’t get much at Christmas. We also organised an excursion to companies that have supported us throughout the year – for instance; Bunnings, Roslyn Community Library, Flip City, Te Manawa, Wet Pets and Norwoods and dropped off some home baking with a thank-you card that the children had made. This was very much appreciated, and the children came back with a feeling a sense of thankfulness in their hearts.
