At BestStart Tawa South we celebrated Samoan language week by having  week dedicated to our Pasifika curriculum from Te Whariki.

All the teachers supported towards this by doing various activities. We decorated the room with Samoan artifacts. The teachers were open to learn more about the Samoan heritage and bring that knowledge by having activities like painting the flag, making a Tapa, Samoan greetings and words to incorporate in our teaching practice. We did mat times based on Samoan music. We invited Tagi to support our learning with a special mat time where she did some songs and shard some Samoan Kai with us too. To end our week , we celebrated Samoan language week by conducting a lavalava day where tamariki and the kaiako dressed up and danced to Samoan music, immersing them in the culture.
