We might be in lock down but that’s not stopping the teachers, families and children of BestStart Parton road on their journey of learning. During this lock down the teachers and families have come together to ensure each day is filled with sensational learning opportunities, with a variety of experiences and challenges. We are staying connected with our families in ways that best suit each family and teaches are available at any time for parents to reach out. Like all teachers, we are missing the wonderful children and families we work alongside, however we are very thankful for technology.

Each day a new challenge/experience is uploaded by a teacher on story park (our online learning forum) and each week the children also get their own personalized activity. We have been having so much fun staying connected, as our children continue to learn within their home environments with the support of their families and teachers. Although the lock down came under sad circumstances, it has allowed us as teachers to strengthen our relationship and partnership with our families.

Our lock down so far, has been filled with many sensational sensory experiences such as making puff paint, bubble experiments, Lego/block marble tracks, making rainbows with household items, families sharing whanau moments, baking days, hut making, memory games, washing and cleaning our dolls and more whanau moments. This has been a wonderful opportunity for teachers to show case the children’s abilities and allow the children to share their skills and knowledge with their family at home. Teachers have been incorporating familiar activities that we do within the centre but have also been getting creative with new ones for the children to explore alongside their families.

What we have already achieved within this lock down has been sensational.
