Heitiki tamariki enjoyed a special outing when we went for a hikoi up to Kaikohe West School to meet Harold the Giraffe.
The children were excited as we made our way to the school, eager to learn about healthy habits and wellbeing.
Harold greeted us with a big smile and shared important messages about looking after our bodies. He taught us that eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, staying active, and getting enough sleep all help us grow strong, learn, and play. The tamariki also completed a fun puzzle that quizzed them on their knowledge of healthy habits.
They worked together to answer questions and proudly shared what they knew about making healthy choices every day. One of the key messages we learned was about positive energy. Harold explained that when we take care of ourselves and make healthy choices, we create good energy within ourselves.
This good energy makes it possible for us to share kindness, encouragement, and positivity with others. We also learned that when others share good energy with us, it can help lift us up too. The tamariki had a wonderful time, enjoyed the activities, and returned to preschool inspired to practise healthy habits and spread positive energy wherever they go.
As always, special thanks to our whānau for their help. He mea nui tēnā.
