In the Big House something that we focus on is fine motor activities for our toddlers, a great activity that fosters this is threading. Today we decided to use pipe cleaners, colanders, and small sticks.

Our children were using their fingers in a pincer grip to thread the pipe cleaners and sticks through the hole.

Sometimes it was a bit tricky as the pipe cleaners would bend and move but there was some great perseverance happening and smiles of delight as they made it through the hole.

This experience offers many different learning opportunities, developing fine motor and pencil grip, hand eye co-ordination, focus and concentration and most of all it was fun!
