Learning is a big part of us here at Kenderdine Road
As per our journey ‘Korero atu, korero mai, Talanoa, ’ we support and encourage our tamariki in the art of explaining what they see, hear, feel and in their storytelling.
Through korero tamariki, continue to expand on their vocabulary, social, language & critical skills and be expressive through play. We support these through such planned activities as show & tell, science experiments (to observe, explain, hypothesise, investigate, question, wonder and muse over, experiment and stretch their rangatiratanga), and then dress-ups whilst celebrating cultural events.
These provide opportunities to scaffold their literacy, numeracy and communication skills. As per our centre philosophy - ‘let the children be co-authors of their own education. We support this through empowering our ākonga to take responsibility for their own learning, to make their own mistakes, to problem-solve, negotiate, collaborate and grow as avid learners.
