We love learning and exploring through play. Ice play is a great way to engage in active exploration using all the senses, have fun and cool down too. Ice play gives the children the opportunity to manipulate the ice and water, building up their fine motor skills. They can use all five senses, with the sense of touch being the most frequent. Toddlers and children process information through their senses, and they learn through exploring these. Sensory play is unstructured, open ended, not product oriented and it is the purest form of exploratory learning.

Ice play gives children the opportunity to express themselves and to gain confidence in doing so as there is no right or wrong way of doing it, and there are no right or wrong answers. This also enables children to think about their own experiences and learn how to explain them to others, which supports their language and creativity. By doing this, children also work on developing their social skills, through negotiating with others and communicating what they experience. Through ice play, children also learn different scientific concepts: Temperature (hot or cold), changing texture (from liquid to solid and back again) etc.
