In the Pohutukawa room at BestStart Primrose Street we have a constant focus on social competency for our tamariki, this means we love getting together in groups to do projects, have mat times and encourage and inspire one another. This term nga tamariki have begun looking at sustainability and how we can be kaitiaki of our whenua and Moana through a focus on "reduce, reuse & recycle".

We have been getting crafty reusing old resources such as turning CD's into dream catchers. Repurposing wood cuts in our carpentry, and learning all about the rubbish and recycling that we do in our homes.

This has fostered kaitiakitanga, kotahitanga and whanaungatanga within our class room through meaningful interactions and meaningful learning.
