This has been very welcome during this hot weather we have been experiencing, although the ice doesn't hang around long!  This has created opportunities for korero around the science of ice and the concept of melting, the power of Tama-nui-te-rā, and how to keep our own bodies safe and healthy (taha tinana).  Sensory play encourages the use of fine motor skills, as tamariki use their hands and fingers to explore different textures and temperatures, this activity helps build nerve connections within the developing brains neural pathways.  Our tamariki thought that this was lots of fun and quite tasty too!
