Lest We Forget 25th April
At BestStart Waitangirua, ANZAC day was a special time for the centre. We remembered those who fought for our freedom and in our reception area we had a memorial wall of pictures of past family members who served in the war. This wall recognised the importance of keeping their memory alive and sharing stories with parents and children about their heroes and loved ones' past.
It was wonderful to hear about loved ones and how much they mean to our parents and families. We also got to enjoy seeing a local hero - a parent who works for the NZ Army who came in to do show & tell in his full uniform. Thank you Billie for sharing your Dad's story with us. And finally, our preschool and toddler children went for a short walk to catch a bus and ride all the way into Porirua town center to visit the Peace Memorial site.
"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them".
