Library Visits and Language Weeks!
At BestStart Weymouth, our preschool rooms have a strong focus on taking the children on mini excursions - our 4-5-year-old rooms have been doing school visits as our 3-4-year-olds have been doing library visits for the different Pacific language weeks such as Tongan Language Week.
We got to try the yummy otai, Fijian Language Week where we got to dress up and no forgetting the bubbles we got to pop and then we also went to the library for Hindi Language Week.
Pacific Language Weeks 2023 - From the Ministry of Pacific Peoples website: "The overarching theme for the 2022 Pacific Language Weeks was sustainability, which aligned with our Pacific Languages Strategy and fed into the UNESCO Decade of Indigenous Languages to sustain and revitalize heritage languages.
This theme of sustainability has resonated strongly with our Pacific communities, who have agreed to carry it over for Pacific Language Weeks 2023". The different language weeks are not only celebrated through Library visits but we also celebrate at the centre where we come dressed up in different cultural attire - culture, and identity are a huge focus for us at BestStart Weymouth.
