Life in April has been very different for all of us.On 25 March, New Zealand went into lock down to keep us all safe and healthy from the Covid-19 virus.  All the schools and preschools closed and we all stayed at home.

Relationships are very important to us at Beststart Wairakei and we made sure to maintain our connections with tamariki and whānau during this time.  We connected via phone, email and storypark.

The teachers made videos and shared learning experiences via storypark.  We also created online platforms so that whānau could share learning of their own. There were posts about baking, art, music and exploring our local environments. This was a wonderfully collaborative venture and we all learned so much from each other.

During this time we looked for teddy bears in our neighbourhood, we decorated our houses with easter eggs, we celebrated Anzac Day with handmade poppies and we learned to chat to friends and family online.

It was sometimes difficult to stay at home but this was also a time to make special memories with our families.
