Little Chefs in Action
Baking cupcakes, scones, cookies, making pizzas for lunch, preparing their own sandwiches are only some of the examples of getting children busy and engaged in cooking learning experiences here at BestStart Botany Junction. We as a teaching team understand and acknowledge the benefits of involving children in cooking, so we provide them with these learning experiences on a weekly basis. Cooking helps children to enhance their early mathematical skills of measuring, mixing, understanding the concept of volume, weight and texture. It enhances children’s social-emotional development as these hands-on cooking activities helps children to develop confidence and skills. Cooking also helps in cognitive development as it encourages children’s problem solving, thinking and creative skills. Along with all the above-mentioned benefits cooking also helps children to develop friendships as it enhances their social skills of communicating, sharing taking turns and having fun together.
