Little Explorers
We have been focusing on getting out into the community, so when we were invited to visit a neighbouring farm - we couldn't say no! This was a wonderful opportunity for our toddlers to go on an adventure that included both fun and learning. An opportunity to communicate, explore, participate, and have an adventure all in one go. Learning while having fun is always a great experience.
On this occasion, the toddlers were communicating by naming the animals and making animal sounds, counting how many animals there were, and how many eggs the chickens had laid. We were checking if the eggs were still warm, and discovering whether it was a duck egg or chicken egg. What colours were the different animals, and what sounds did they make? These were just a few of the questions being asked by the children and Kaiako.
There was an adventure around every corner and the children participated in different activities. Some included feeding the animals, collecting feijoas, and counting eggs. We even had to try to find the chickens who had laid their eggs in the bushes. It is always wonderful getting out into the community and here at BestStart Maui we feel very lucky to have so many different opportunities to explore. This visit is one the children really loved.
