Our under-2s Koru Room has been full of excitement, laughter and meaningful learning experiences over this special time.
We began with our Easter celebration, where tamariki created bunny faces using their handprints. With gentle guidance from kaiako, they explored colours and textures through sensory play, supporting the development of fine motor skills and early communication. Their artwork was proudly displayed on our door, helping to create a shared space where tamariki and whānau could connect and celebrate learning together.
Following this, our holiday programme offered new opportunities for exploration and creativity. Face Painting Day sparked imagination as tamariki chose simple designs and watched their reflections come to life. With kaiako support, this experience encouraged self-expression, social interaction and growing confidence as tamariki shared their painted faces with peers and staff.
A highlight of our programme was a visit from St John, who support communities through ambulance services and health education. Tamariki showed interest in the ambulance and learned about how helpers care for people in need. This experience helped build early awareness of safety, empathy and caring for others in our community.
Overall, it has been a joyful and enriching time in the Koru Room, filled with creativity, connection, curiosity and meaningful learning for all our tamariki.
