Over the last part of March throughout all of April and into the beginning of May as a nation we all went into lockdown to keep our families safe from Covid 19. As we were all at home the centre carried out an online learning programme to ensure BestStart Welcome Bay's children and families were supported with lots of fun activities posted on Storypark. Some of these included delicious baking ideas from our cook, online storytelling by our fantastic teachers, art and craft, science experiments. At home adventures showcasing teaches environments – fun on the farm! Going on a bear hunt and much, much more!

All of our children have their own learning and development plans and so the learning experiences were catered to the various developmental stages of our tamariki, from our babies who were just learning to crawl to our older 4 year olds.

Our families had lots of fun implementing the activities at home aswell as sharing their own adventures with us via Storypark.

After lockdown we invited our Whanau to share their Lockdown adventures with the centre and a Lockdown Life wall display was created in our foyer to share with our returning families. One of our amazing and talented teaches drew a beautiful masterpiece depicting our very valued frontline essential workers.

At Best Start Welcome bay we feel very blessed that our centres Whanau have all been safe from Covid 19 and have now returned to re connect with their treasured friends.
