Lockdown learning bubbles
At BestStart Remuera Road our primary focus has been to reach out to our tamariki and whanau, communicate, empathize, help them keep up with the unprecedented time which has proved to be a roller costar for many of them because of this pandemic & Delta outbreak. We made sure to provide the best early learning experience to nga tamariki who are in our bubbles (at level 3) and also remotely through the platform of BestStart@Home to those who have opted for distance learning.
Coronavirus outbreak has impacted everyone’s routines so, we feel that, more than ever, it’s important for teachers and families to keep in communication and stay connected. It helped us to strengthen our relationship and support our whanau to keep their children happy and engage.
We identified the learning needs, interest and learning dispositions of the tamariki in our bubbles, set up relevant activities as well as conducted circle times via zoom to connect with those who are learning from home. Technology has been a life saver this difficult time helping us to connect to our whanau and tamariki. During level 3, we have also celebrated Chinese Language Week, Fijian Language week in our bubbles at the centre and also remotely through zoom.
