Loose Parts in the Koru Room

Our Tamariki have been loving playing, imagining, and inventing with loose parts here in the Koru room.

This links to our current planning around Loose Parts and how playing and experimenting with open-ended materials encourages creativity and imagination. New skills in planning, communication, and problem-solving are developed - and because there is no prescribed way to use the parts, children make the decisions. They learn, through play, at the level that they are ready for - and naturally stretch themselves by setting their own goals and challenges.

Loose parts play involves open-ended and easily manipulated materials that children can use to construct, deconstruct and transport to develop their working theories of the physical world and to expand their social and imaginative play.
