At BestStart Tory Street, we celebrated Holi and Colour Your Day. Children enjoyed lots of colour activities such as paintings, water colour painting and coloured water pouring. They really loved throwing colours at each other and had loads of fun.

We also talked about what Holi is, as it is an important celebration for our Hindu whanau.

We also talked about what happened last Friday in Christchurch, so that the children knew why we were observing silence. To pay our respect to people in Christchurch, we observed two minutes silence and sang the song “Tutira Mai’’.

Today was a great day to celebrate children’s culture and show our respect to people who are in our community. And this reflects our centre vision clearly which is:

“We bring together children, whanau and teachers from many cultures of our vibrant city. We learn, dream and celebrate together through the universal languages of discovery, music, dance, food, creativity and play.”
