Loving loose parts
Lately at BestStart Bayfair we have been all about loose parts! The teachers have been busy collecting natural materials as well as bits and bobs from the op shops in order to create unique experiences for the children.
Loose part play is an amazing way to create open ended play for children where they can experiment, imagine, communicate and problem solve. As there is no prescribed way to use the materials (loose parts) the children can lead and create their own play.
Some of the loose parts the children have been engaging with include lid rings, egg cups, necklaces, metal trays, wicker baskets, colourful stones, shells and jugs. As you can see really anything can be used as loose parts and it’s such an easy and effective way to develop children’s learning through play.
