M3 - Māori pūrākau, mindfulness and movement

We have been so lucky to get to work alongside Jase Te Patu and his amazing M3 movement. Today we had the rangatahi from Naenae college come in to lead us in a session of M3 (Māori pūrākau, mindfulness and movement) in our rākau room.

First they lead us with a karakia.

The rangatahi taught us the pūrākau of the battle of the mountains! When Tongariro, Taranaki, Tauhara and Pūtauaki were all fighting over Pīhanga!

Next they taught us some movements that went with the story and we all followed along.

Then we finished with practicing our '1,2,3...ha' breath - taking big slow breaths in and out together.

This was an amazing opportunity for tuakana-teina. Getting to have rangatahi from our community come into our space and share their mahi with us was so inspirational.
